Summer Paddle- Big River, Coventry

Please join us for our free, guided kayak/canoe paddles on Thursdays. We will pass various local conservation lands, including some of our own Westerly Land Trust preserves. We’ll stop for a swim on some of the trips! These paddles are between 1 ½ to 3 hours long. Bring your own kayak/canoe, paddle, life jacket, whistle, water, snacks, etc. Please arrive early: our trips leave promptly.

Come paddle Big River with us! We’ll enjoy scenic woodlands of Big River Management Area from the comfort of our boats. No car shuttle. Directions: I-95 to exit 6. Go north on Rte 3 for 1.4 miles. Turn left at light onto Harkney Hill Road (Rte 118) and go 1 mile to Zeke’s Bridge Fishing Access.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • PFD’s: Personal flotation devices or Life Jackets MUST be worn by all our paddlers properly zipped and/or buckled at all times while on the water, in the manner intended by the manufacturer. Persons not willing to follow this requirement are not permitted on our trips. Inflatable PFD’s are NOT allowed.
  • Sound signal (whistle, horn, etc.) is required.
  • If weather is questionable, contact leader.
  • Boat ramps can normally be used to launch canoes and kayaks but keep the boat ramp clear for boat trailers.
