Please join us for our free, guided kayak/canoe paddles on Thursdays. We will pass various local conservation lands, including some of our own Westerly Land Trust preserves. We’ll stop for a swim on some of the trips! These paddles are between 1 ½ to 3 hours long. Bring your own kayak/canoe, paddle, life jacket, whistle, water, snacks, etc. We will shuttle vehicles at 9:30 AM unless stated to the contrary. Please arrive early: our trips leave promptly.
July 27 Bradford to Potter Hill
This is a beautiful section of the Pawcatuck River which passes by the Westerly Land Trust’s Grills, Riverwood, Anderson, and Flora Whiteley Preserves. This is a wonderful opportunity to view these beautiful properties from a different vantage point! Put in at Bradford access on left side of river. Here the river runs under Rte 91 and almost immediately there is a large mill on left and a dam. Portage around dam on right. After the Rte 3 crossing, the river meanders along a swamp. Takeout on Potter Hill Road by bridge and dam in Westerly.
