Why a community garden in Westerly? In addition to all the wonderful benefits that gardening can bring about, such as building community, improving nutrition, reducing hunger, and increasing physical and mental health, the garden has transformed an empty Main Street parking lot into a beautiful location where community members grow and learn together.
The Community Garden, located at 177 Main Street in downtown Westerly, is comprised of 10 raised beds, 4 communal garden beds, a tool shed and space for workshops and community gatherings. The Westerly Land Trust Community Garden was originally funded by a grant from RI Housing under the KeepSpace Westerly program.
