Living Laboratories: Stations
Distance learning is hard. We are here to help. Bring your kiddos outdoors to learn and explore in natural classrooms on Westerly Land Trust preserves. Living Laboratories: Stations are perfect alternative to the regular Living Laboratories for those who had scheduling conflicts, want to minimize group interactions, or are interested in activities for the whole family. Different from the drop-off structure of Living Laboratories, parents and guardians help their little naturalists navigate the Stations, learning together about native Rhode Island wildlife such as bats, birds, and reptiles!
Inspired by the RI Fish and Wildlife Critter Kits, the spring Living Laboratories: Stations allow students and their families to act as scientific field researchers, gathering data on Rhode Island’s local animal populations. This type of hands-on experiential learning supplements traditional and current classroom science curricula, but also helps improve your kids’ focus, concentration, and physical and mental health.
Each week, there will be activity stations set at a different preserve (see below for details).  Curriculum is tailored for K-8th graders, but is open for all ages.  This is a great way for families to connect with each other while connecting with nature.  In an effort to limit group sizes, please register for a time slot by clicking on the links below.  For questions, please email Joseph Barnes at jbarnes@westerlylandtrust.org or call 401-315-2610.
