SUMMARY:Thursday Paddles: Mystic YMCA
DESCRIPTION:Bring your own kayak/canoe\, paddle\, life jacket\, whistle\, water\, snacks\, etc. Some of us will go swimming. Be aware that our trips leave promptly so be on time! No vehicle shuttle. We will meet at the Alton Dam and go upstream to Woodville. \nNo vehicle shuttle. From Westerly: Go south on Rte 1 toward Mystic. At the traffic light at the top of the hill just as you are entering into the business area of Mystic\, turn left (there’s a sign saying Mason’s Island. Cross over the RR bridge (it’s almost immediately). Take the first right after the bridge (there’s a YMCA sign). Pass the “Y” on your left and go straight to the beach from where we will launch. \nTo sign up\, please contact paddle leader: David Malchman\, (860) 535-8185 (h)\, (860) 501-2067 (c) and email: pir8.dave@sbcglobal.net   Launch site: ___ \nPLEASE NOTE:  \n\nPFD’s: Personal flotation devices or Life Jackets MUST be worn by all our paddlers properly zipped and/or buckled at all times while on the water\, in the manner intended by the manufacturer. Persons not willing to follow this requirement are not permitted on our trips. Inflatable PFD’s are NOT allowed.\nSound signal (whistle\, horn\, etc.) is required.\nIf weather is questionable\, contact leader.\nIf you wish to have a free vessel safety check contact Sally Hanson. This can be done before or after a paddle as long as Sally is there.
