DESCRIPTION:This walk goes through Wahaneeta Preserve\, Woody Hill Management Area\, and Westerly Municipal Land Trust properties.  The hike is about 5 miles long\, and will go past foundations from the 1800s\, remains of an old quarry\, the Woody Hill Marsh\, ridges\, and ravines.  Moderate to difficult terrain.  There are several flat sections on dirt roads\, but note there are also a number of short but steeper hill climbs. Meet and park at Wahaneeta Preserve\, 118 Moorhouse Road\, Westerly.  The gate will be open; drive through the gate\, turn left\, and park in the field at Wahaneeta. \nTo sign up\, contact hike leader: Jeff Walker\, 401-447-1879 and email: Jeffrey.walker@cox.net \nThursday hikes are FREE. We will begin at the Town Hall at 80 Boston Neck Road and proceed up to the Wickford Elementary School site across the NK Free Library property and through the Bush Hill Nature Preserve before finishing up at the Town Wharf at the end of Main Street. Along the way we will learn about the story behind the Hussey Bridge\, the tales of both the Ten Rod Road and the Washington Academy\, and the story of Wickford Village from the time of native Narragansetts right through to the present day. DESCRIPTION:This is a Yankee Trailer hike which we have been invited to. Join Tim Cranston on a brisk walk through Wickford. We will begin at the Town Hall at 80 Boston Neck Road and proceed up to the Wickford Elementary School site across the NK Free Library property and through the Bush Hill Nature Preserve before finishing up at the Town Wharf at the end of Main Street. Along the way we will learn about the story behind the Hussey Bridge\, the tales of both the Ten Rod Road and the Washington Academy\, and the story of Wickford Village from the time of native Narragansetts right through to the present day.
