SUMMARY:Patch by Patch Plant Restoration
DESCRIPTION:Over the past three years\, WLT’s stewardship team and volunteers have worked hard to remove woody invasives from the warm-season meadow\, and now we are ready to increase biodiversity\, patch-by-patch. \nPlant Community is a nursery in East Greenwich that sells native plants grown from locally adapted seeds\, preserving Rhode Island native plants unique and climate-specific adaptations. They provide diverse and affordable plugs and potted plants for restoration and home gardens. \nThe nursery’s new Patch-by-Patch restoration program seeks to help land trusts\, conservation groups and private landowners increase biodiversity one planting at a time\, believing that restoration isn’t always about remaking the landscape but augmenting it. \nSign up to join WLT and Plant Community in augmenting the meadow at Cottrell Family Preserve by planting a variety of native plugs. Fall is one of the best times to plant and we can’t wait to come back next year to track our progress and support native biodiversity. \nQuestions?
