SUMMARY:Thursday Hike: Burlingame North\, Charlestown
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our free-guided trail walks on Thursdays.  Walks are open to all ages with our target group being agile seniors.  Please keep in mind that these are wooded trails with stumps\, roots and rocks so be sure to wear hiking boots or good walking shoes. If the weather is icy you should bring stabilizers or something for traction. If a lot of snow bring snowshoes. Be aware that our hikes leave promptly so be on time! \nThis hike will take us over a bit of the Vin Gormley and Schoolhouse trails and then down several\nunnamed trails past some very interesting ruins. The trail is an undulating one so if snowy or icy\nbring stabilizers and/or sticks. The hike will be about 3 1/2 miles with an option to extend it to\n5 if we want. \nDirections – Meet at the parking lot on the north side of Buckeye Brook Road\, Charlestown 1.5\nmiles from its intersection with Rte 216. Leader: Janice Fifer\, (401) 213-6479\, and email:\njhfifer@verizon.net\n*****************************************************************************************\nDue to the COVID:\n• We realize lots of people have concerns about getting together. Therefore\, please sign up\nwith leader so that person will know how many are coming. If no one signs up the leader\nmay not show up.\n• Social distancing of 6’ apart.\n• Everyone needs to have a face mask in case it is needed.\n• Carpooling is up to you or the leader. Keep in mind some folks may be uncomfortable having\nsomeone share their vehicle. An alternate way is to caravan.\n**************************************************************************\nPLEASE NOTE: \n\nInclement weather cancels and if in doubt\, contact leader.\nIf you wish to bring a dog please contact the leader as some properties do not allow them.\nHowever\, if a dog is present they must be leashed at all times.\nIf you wish to get the hiking schedule emailed to you contact Lauren Barber\,\nlbarber@westerlylandtrust.org and ask her to put you on the Thursday hiking group email list.\n\nFLUORESCENT ORANGE REQUIREMENTS:\nIn State Management areas everyone is required to wear 200 square inches of solid daylight\nfluorescent orange from the second Saturday in September to the last day of February and the last\nThursday in April to the last day in May\, annually.
