DESCRIPTION:Join us for our free-guided trail walks on Thursdays.  Walks are open to all ages with our target group being agile seniors.  Please keep in mind that these are wooded trails with stumps\, roots and rocks so be sure to wear hiking boots or good walking shoes. If the weather is icy you should bring stabilizers or something for traction. If a lot of snow bring snowshoes. Be aware that our hikes leave promptly so be on time! \nThis is a walking tour of the WLT’s Wahaneeta Preserve and a small section of the adjoining Woody Hill Management Area. This hike will be about 3 miles long\, wooded single-trach trails. We will go past old stone foundations\, wells\, a historical cemetery\, and several streams. \nDirections: Parking will be available @ Wahaneeta Preserve\, 118 Moorhouse Road\, Westerly. SUMMARY:Thursday Hike: Wahaneeta Preserve\, Westerly
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our free guided trail walks on Thursdays. All walks begin at 10:00 AM unless stated to the contrary. We will visit various local conservation properties\, including some of our Westerly Land Trust preserves.  Walks are between 1 ½ to 3 hours and are open to all ages with our target group being agile seniors. Please keep in mind that these are wooded trails with stumps\, roots and rocks so be sure to wear hiking boots or good walking shoes. Also\, you’ll want to bring water and maybe a snack. \nWe will start @ Wahaneeta Preserve. The preserve is on left side of Moorehouse Road off Dunns Corner-Bradford Road. Turn in at Trombino Fields sign. All parking must be inside Preserve.  \nLeader: Sheilia Beattie\, 401-741-9240 and email: stb@threeblackdogs.com \n***************************************************************************** \nDue to COVID-19: \n\nWe recognize many people still have concerns about gathering; therefore\, please sign up with the designated hike leader\, so that person will know how many will be attending and cap the group size if necessary.\nMaintain a safe and comfortable distance from other hikers.\nPlease bring a face mask in case it is needed.\n\n**************************************************************** \nPLEASE NOTE: \n\nThere are still a few open Thursdays before the end of the year. If in doubt\, please contact leader.\nPlease notify the hike leader if you plan on attending.\n\nFLUORESCENT ORANGE REQUIREMENTS:  \nIn State Management areas everyone is required to wear 200 square inches of solid daylight fluorescent orange from the second Saturday in September to the last day of February and the last Thursday in April to the last day in May\, annually.

Join us this November as The Westerly Land Trust pairs with Tapped Apple Winery\, and Knead Doughnuts. Bring your friends for a happy hour hike in Wahaneeta\, followed by a wine and cider tasting in the woods while you study appleology among the oaks and enjoy Knead Doughnuts. Cheers to good friends\, good trails and good wine! \n**This event is FREE for Westerly Land Trust members and $15 for non-members collected “at the door“. Cash and card accepted. ALL attendees are REQUIRED to register for event.
