Learn what the buzz is about with beekeeping and how you can get started today.

Interested in becoming a beekeeper and harvesting your own honey, but not sure where to get started? Join Cail Calder of Westerbee honey, aka “The Beeman” , to learn the basics of beekeeping, while enjoying honey themed refreshments at Barlow Nature Preserve. Getting started with beekeeping can be intimidating which is why we are partnering with Cail who brings not only a wealth of knowledge but makes learning about beekeeping fun, enjoyable, and light hearted.

Cail started his beekeeping journey at just 7 years old and his passion still rings true. Cail and his wife Sheryl recently moved to the area and founded Westerbee. Cail will walk you through how to start your own hive and how to keep them alive! There will be time at the end to address questions. Workshop is $25.00 per person which Cail generously pledged to donate to WLT.

Parking is available in the main parking lot, with overflow parking in the field behind the outbuildings to the east (up the farm road).

Workshop is geared towards adults and high school students.
