Volunteer Opportunities

We rely on our incredible volunteers for everything from organizing special events to cleaning up local riverbanks. We have numerous opportunities available, including office assistance, helping with educational field trips, leading hikes and paddles, joining our trail maintenance crew and so much more!

Interested in joining a community of WLT land stewardship volunteers?

Join us as the WLT’s Coffee and Clearing Club kicks off its 2026-2027 volunteer season on Tuesday, September 15 at Barlow Nature Preserve. Bring your work gloves and loppers and join our weekly work crew! There are many ways to help out, ranging from all abilities!
Coffee is served in The Coop at Barlow Nature Preserve at 8:30 am. Marching Orders are issued at 8:55 am, and volunteers work until 11 am, clearing trails and stone walls, blazing trails, building signs, gardening, and more. The CCC works every Tuesday from September through June.

High School Opportunities

We believe in nurturing a lifelong love of nature. Our high school opportunities connect students with hands-on experiences that are academically enriching, socially engaging, and emotionally rewarding. Whether you’re curious about wildlife, passionate about building and creating, or eager to inspire others to care for the environment, we have opportunities that allow you to contribute in ways that are meaningful to you.

Ways high schoolers can get involved…

  • Community Service
    • WLT offers students many ways to make a meaningful difference in our community. Students can contribute to conservation and community service while learning valuable skills.
  • Trail Blazer Internship Program
    • This internship is available for high school students during the fall, spring, and/or summer.
  • Senior Projects
    • Project opportunities are based on the interests and abilities of students and our current organizational needs.
