145 Main Street

July 26, 2019 By stratedia

This property, acquired in 2005, is the site of the former Brown Boatworx. Significant resources were committed to the cleanup of the property, including the removal of a building and several underground storage tanks. The land trust decided to relocate the space from its original location at 177 Main Street, and this vacant lot offered larger space and a water source.

In May of 2019, through the support of local businesses, foundations, organizations, and individuals, the Westerly Land Trust Community Garden was dedicated in its new home, offering 20 raised beds, several large areas of pollinator habitat, a tool shed and space for workshops and community gatherings. More than 50 volunteers spent weeks constructing garden beds, filling the plots, and planting pollinator plants and shrubs.

For inquiries or to rent a plot at the garden, contact our office at 401-315-2610.
