Camp Quequatuck
In December 2025, the Westerly Land Trust acquired the 4.6-acre Camp Quequatuck at 22 Boy Scout Drive, neighboring WLT’s Riverwood Preserve.
A success 10 years in the making, WLT had been approached by the camp’s former owners, the Boy Scouts of America, to acquire this land and protect it in perpetuity. Along with conserving 690 feet of additional river frontage, this acquisition extends a natural wildlife corridor that supports the Eastern box turtle and the bobcat, both listed as species of priority in the Rhode Island Wildlife Action Plan. The Westerly Land Trust will maintain a relationship with the Boy Scouts to accommodate their scouting activities; existing camping shelters and an outhouse will remain on the property. As for all acquired properties, WLT Staff is creating a conservation management plan for Camp Quequatuck, including best land use, habitat preservation, and wildlife protection.
