Flora Whiteley Preserve consists of two parcels totaling approximately 14.1 acres. More than 12 acres is owned by WLT and the balance is managed under a conservation easement. The property has substantial frontage on the Pawcatuck River with extensive marsh and wetlands.

The Preserve also contains uplands with woodlands, exposed ledge and a seasonal stream that flows to the River. A meadow and knoll overlooking the Pawcatuck River is another great feature of this preserve, offering a portage egress point around the Potter Hill Dam. The property was purchased in two parts in 2005 and 2006.

Trails: A trail system is accessible from with easy trails that travel along the river and to an upland meadow area.

Location and Parking: Between Potter Hill Road and the Pawcatuck River, north of Lima Drive and South of the Potter Hill village. It is across Potter Hill Road from the east arm of the Westerly Town Forest. There are two entrances to Flora Whiteley Preserve. One entrance has limited parking (1 car) in the grass driveway located at 197 Potter Hill Rd. Look for the WLT parking sign and chain barrier at the end of the driveway. The second entrance can be found directly across the street from the dirt parking lot located at 166 Potter Hill Road. This lot provides access to Flora Whiteley Preserve, Cottrell Family Preserve, and the Westerly Town Forest. More ample parking is located at the DEM’s Potter Hill Landing lot.
