🦃 Today, amidst the turkey, football, parades and more turkey, we at the Westerly Land Trust are taking stock of all we have to be thankful for.

You are at the top of our list.

Saving land is a true community effort-- it takes people who care about the forest behind their home, the farm down the road, and the stream where their kids search for tadpoles.

We are grateful to live and work in a town so full of natural beauty, surrounded by people who appreciate it as much as we do. With your help, 1,700 acres of open space in Westerly have been protected forever. Plus, our dedicated volunteer team has forged more than 25 miles of hiking trails. (Pro Tip: These trails are great for a post-Thanksgiving feast walk in the woods!)

🥾As part of rilandtrustcouncil Land Trust Days, we hosted a Fungal Foray with the Rhode Island Mycological Society who’s mission is to promote the study of fungal biodiversity, especially in RI! This video highlights only a handful of the millions of fungi species that can be seen across the world🌎

Organizations like the RI Mycological Society and mushroom_hunting_foundation are great organizations to get involved in if you are looking to expand your knowledge of fungi!
