Flora Whiteley Preserve
Flora Whiteley Preserve consists of two parcels totaling approximately 14.1 acres. More than 12 acres is owned by WLT and the balance is managed under a conservation easement. The property has substantial frontage on the Pawcatuck River with extensive marsh and wetlands.
The Preserve also contains uplands with woodlands, exposed ledge and a seasonal stream that flows to the River. A meadow and knoll overlooking the Pawcatuck River is another great feature of this preserve, offering a portage egress point around the Potter Hill Dam. The property was purchased in two parts in 2005 and 2006.
Trails: A trail system is accessible from with easy trails that travel along the river and to an upland meadow area. Limited parking is available.

Location: Between Potter Hill Road and the Pawcatuck River, north of Lima Drive and South of the Potter Hill village. It is across Potter Hill Road from the east arm of the Westerly Town Forest. Parking is located across from 190 Potter Hill Rd. Look for the WLT parking sign and chain barrier at the end of the driveway.

🌱Microgreens 101: Wednesday, April 9, 5:30 pm
Join us at Barlow Nature Preserve where Kain will guide you through the process of selecting seeds, preparing your growing space, and nurturing your plants from seed to harvest, while highlighting nutritional value and culinary applications. At the end of the session, you’ll take home your very own micro greens grow kit, so you can get started immediately! Come prepared to get dirty as we will be sowing and sampling many varieties of microgreens! This workshop is geared towards adults. WLT members are $25 and $35 for nonmember, which Kait has generously pledged to donate a portion of proceeds to WLT. Registration is required, spots are limited. In this exciting and interactive class, students will discover the wonders of microgreens – tiny, nutritious plants that are as fun to grow as they are to eat! This program teaches not only how to grow plants but also how to be mindful of the environment and the importance of healthy, home-grown food. By the end of the session students will know how to grow their own microgreens and leave with a DIY microgreen grow kit to start growing at home. This program is for students ages 6 and up. Student drop off and pick up is required! This program is NO COST thanks to generous community support! Registration is required, spots are limited.
