Living Laboratories: Spring Session
Distance learning is hard. We are here to help. Send your kiddos outdoors to learn and explore in natural classrooms on Westerly Land Trust preserves. This spring, students will learn about native Rhode Island wildlife such as bats, birds, and reptiles!
Inspired by the RI Fish and Wildlife Critter Kits, the spring Living Laboratories allows students in grades K-8 to act as scientific field researchers, gathering data on Rhode Island’s local animal populations. Hands-on classes supplement traditional and current classroom science curricula, but also help improve your kids’ focus, concentration, and physical and mental health.
Each lesson is one hour and students are grouped by age: K-2 meet at 1pm, 3-5 meet at 2:30pm, and 6-8 meet at 4pm. Sign-up by emailing Youth Education Coordinator Joseph Barnes at jbarnes@westerlylandtrust.org. Space is limited.
March 17: BATS at Wahaneeta Preserve
March 24: BIRDS at Barlow Nature Preserve
March 31: REPTILES & AMPHIBIANS at Grills Preserve
