The Westerly Land Trust’s preserves offer an array of ecosystems to explore, providing excellent opportunities for students to study wildlife, habitats, geology, and botany, while connecting with the natural world. Our education initiative supports the Rhode Island Environmental Literacy Plan, SEL (Social Emotional Learning), and aligns with NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) to apply science education goals on the land. Our programs are hands-on, will keep your students engaged, and FREE to attend thanks to our generous donors and grant funders.
We offer support with connecting your curriculum to conservation to get the most out of our programs. There is so much to learn from the great outdoors both academically and social and emotionally.

Join us at Barlow Nature Preserve where Kain will guide you through the process of selecting seeds, preparing your growing space, and nurturing your plants from seed to harvest, while highlighting nutritional value and culinary applications. At the end of the session, you’ll take home your very own micro greens grow kit, so you can get started immediately! Come prepared to get dirty as we will be sowing and sampling many varieties of microgreens! This workshop is geared towards adults. WLT members are $25 and $35 for nonmember, which Kain has generously pledged to donate a portion of proceeds to WLT. Registration is required, spots are limited.
